Peanut Butter Cup Granola (Vegan, Gluten Free)

Peanut Butter Cup Granola.  Yes, that’s right. Peanut butter cups for breakfast. In the form of granola of course! I just love homemade granola.

Peanut Butter Cup Granola

I have many homemade granola recipes on my blog. This Peanut Butter Chocolate Granola makes you feel like you are having a special treat for breakfast. After all, peanut butter and chocolate were made for each other.

I was a huge fan of the Reese’s peanut butter cups.  Let’s be honest though.  They are filled with chemicals and additives and probably not much real peanut butter or chocolate.

I tried to create a dish that resembles that naughty taste, but without the guilt.  What better time than breakfast to eat chocolate and peanut butter?

  1. Hi, what brand of rolled oats do you use? Also, does it has a strong maple flavor or does the maple just add sweetness? Thanks!
    1. I buy the organic rolled oats out of the bulk bins at Whole Foods. I think they are about $1.69/lb. There is no maple flavor in this at all. The chocolate and peanut butter mask it. It just adds the sweetness.
  2. This granola is SO good! I also love the maple almond vanilla one, but this peanut butter cup granola is as good as eating cookies! My kids and husband like this....that's quite an accomplishment in my quest for healthy, low sugar, whole food recipes. I am so glad I found your blog as several recipes are now weekly regulars in my house.
  3. If I'm subbing vanilla extract for ground vanilla beans and coconut oil for applesauce, how much of each should I use?
  4. This is amazing. We at Little Green Pouch are taking a 10 day real good pledge, and I made this for breakfast on day 3. I want to have it for day 4, 5, etc. but there surely won't be enough as my boys (3 and 5) can't get enough of it either! Thank you and can't wait to try more of your granola recipes.
    1. I am not sure. I do have this recipe that you can use with peanut butter instead of almond butter. The ingredients are very similar. https://mywholefoodlife.com/2013/02/17/almond-butter-chocolate-chip-baked-oatmeal/
  5. THANK YOU for this recipe! I love it and it has become a staple in our home. We always have it on hand. I love that I'm no longer buying expensive boxes of cereal. Thank you!
  6. This is definitely a very low sugar granola. If I make it again, I would add some oil instead of all applesauce and throw in some chocolate chips.
