Homemade Fajita Seasoning with No Additives

Homemade Fajita Seasoning with no funny additives.  I have a new recipe for you guys!  This time it’s DIY fajita seasoning.  Why homemade fajita seasoning you ask?

Most store bought fajita seasoning contains far too much sodium and other unwanted additives.  For a long time, I didn’t even think to look at the labels on my seasoning.

When I did I was surprised!  Not only is this fajita seasoning recipe cheaper to make, it contains no additives!

I already had this recipe in my homemade re-fried beans post, but I wanted to share it in it’s own post so you can find it easier.  This is also a recipe for a much bigger amount.  It makes about 1/2 cup seasoning.

This fajita seasoning recipe can be added to so many things.  Rice and beans, popcorn and vegetables are a few that come to mind.  I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do.

  1. I've been making my own fajita seasoning for a little while that's similar to this but I never thought of adding oregano. It tastes so much better than store bought! The package you buy at the store isn't nearly as good plus it's laden with chemicals. Plus, you can't beat the price, most people have all of those spices in their spice cabinet already. Thanks for the idea of adding the oregano, I'll have to try it!
  2. Love this. What a clever idea to make it ahead of time. I normally just add my spices to the pot every time I'm cooking but a homemade spice mix is so much easier. I quit buying the stuff in the store as well, the salt is a bit overwhelming and those extra additives are not necessary. I love making a ton of squash and peppers and seasoning it with fajita mix and having it on my salads during the week. Will have to try this recipe! Thanks for sharing
  3. Hi Melissa, This is so great! I hate all the unnecessary additives and sugar in fajita or taco seasonings. However, every time I season it myself my husband says that the store-bought mixes taste better...I'll have to give you mix a try and see if he notices the difference. Thanks so much for sharing :)
  4. Great recipe - thinking of maybe making up some of this for holiday gifts and placing in those cute plastic ornaments! (Especially for my granddaughter who is a newbie-vegan and is having fun experimenting with recipes!! Thanks for all your super tips, Melissa! :))
