Banana Chocolate Chip Donuts

Banana Chocolate Chip Donuts.  It’s been a while since I posted a sweet recipe.  So I am sharing these banana chocolate chip donuts.

If you don’t know already, I have a sweet tooth.  So in order to get my sweet fix, I need to create healthier alternatives.  This banana chocolate chip donut recipe is one way to curb a sweet tooth.

Banana Chocolate Chip Donuts

These Banana Donuts are:

  • vegan
  • oil free
  • naturally sweetened
  • simple to make

I may have gone a little over board with the chips.  It’s all good though.  These are healthy enough to eat for a breakfast and they should keep you satiated for quite sometime.

This recipe was supposed to be called Apple Donuts, but I realized I was short on applesauce so I had to improvise by adding banana.

I make a big batch of these so I have some to freeze, some to snack on and some for my father-in-law who loves to taste test these recipes. 🙂

  1. Thanks so much for this recipe. I'm on an elimination diet and can only have a number of foods, so I was excited to see that those in the recipe were on my list! I used rice flour and oat flour and homemade chocolate chips (made with maple syrup) then baked in a mini muffin pan. Turned out great.
  2. Hi, the recipe notes to grease the pans (plural), but I didn't read how many this recipe makes. Is it two of the 6-donut pans? I can't wait to make these!
  3. I made these this morning for my family...they turned out soo good! I used gulten free flour and cooked them in my cakepop maker so they were donut holes. Thanks for all of your great recipes!
  4. Holy yum!!! I used spelt flour and 3 very ripe bananas instead of applesauce. I increased the coconut sugar a bit, since I'm still working on transitioning my kids to healthier habits and I want them to eat them:) I've been experimenting with dozens of banana bread/muffin recipes and this is by far my favorite!
  5. Lots of "firsts" last week, first use of donut pan, first use of this recipe, first use of Spelt flour. These donuts are delicious and so easy to make. I am making them again tomorrow, will be adding chopped pecans. I love your recipes...will be sharing this one...but not my donuts ;)
  6. The recipe looks delicious! I have one question - in the thread people mentions spelt flour, but the recipe lists white whole wheat flour. Was it edited recently? I have both and wanted to know which to use. Thank you!
      1. Thank you for your response! Would it be the same amount of Spelt? So glad I found your website and Facebook group, you offer great options.
