Real Food Blends

You guys know I don’t write a lot of sponsored posts. However, this one is very near and dear to my heart. If you have read my daughter Olive’s story, then you know about her rough start in life. Olive was G tube fed for the first 3 years of here life. The doctor’s kept trying to put her on formula after formula trying to find one that didn’t make her throw up. She even had trouble with breast milk despite dietary changes. Olive was vomiting during every single feeding. Have you looked at the ingredients in formula? These are the ingredients found in the formula Olive was on:

During this time, she was seeing a feeding therapist. The feeding therapist suggested we try a real food blended diet to see if it would help. So I got a breakdown of her nutritional needs and started to blend up real food. The change in her health was almost instantaneous! She stopped vomiting during her feeding almost overnight! Why am I telling you all this? Because I just found out about this amazing company called Real Food Blends. They specifically have developed real food blends made for people on feeding tubes.  Julie, the creator of Real Food Blends has a similar story with her son.  You can watch her story here.

  1. Hi. I was so excited to read your post on Real Food Blends. Our precious little foster guy is two and has been on a formula like the one you described for about 1 1/2 years. I've never been able to figure out how this stuff can be good for him. I'm certainly going to check this out. Thank you so much!
  2. These sound like a great idea. But why just for that medical population. We know the value of real whole food so why not use it for "us" in general? I wonder if it could make a great smoothie??
    1. I asked about that and she said they are edible for all, but they may not taste very good. However, I think you could probably add a little to a smoothie recipe with some extra fruit to mask the tastes.
  3. Has any of your kiddoes have a reaction to the quinoa/kale blend? My kid has been fine with it for atleast 6 weeks, then just suddenly, she can't keep it in, in a form of full on projectile! I feed this blend to her in the morning and at night, while She has the salmon and chicken blend for her two othe feedings through out the day. She is 6. Can it be a case of bad batch on Real Food Blend part? Any thoughts? Much appreciated
    1. Sorry your kiddo is not tolerating it. :( Did you contact the company? They may have more insight. Also, maybe she has a sensitivity to quinoa? Some people do.
  4. "Disclaimer: This post was sponsored by Real Food Blends, but opinions are all my own" You were paid to write this? Just trying to understand that, sorry. I'm trying to find objective information about nutritionally complete tube foods.
    1. I was paid a very small fee. Much smaller than I usually charge because I really believe in the product. I would NEVER promote a product that I didn't absolutely believe in.
