Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie

Smoothies are great for taking your breakfasts on the go.  This Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie is perfect for that.  I added chia seeds and quinoa flakes to it, so there is good protein and fiber which should keep you full for a long time after.  Did you know that quinoa is actually a complete plant based protein?  That is why I love adding the flakes to my smoothies.  Another breakfast that is great for on the go is overnight oats.  If you haven’t given them a try, I highly suggest you do.   This strawberry shortcake smoothie is vegan and gluten free.  I hope you enjoy it.

Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie - My Whole Food Life

I have been buying up all the strawberries since they have been in season.   Then I freeze them so I can enjoy berries all year long.  I cannot justify the price of berries out of season.  Way too much for me.  That is why I stock up and freeze.  If you like smoothies, you may also like this and this.

Blueberry Muffin Smoothie

You guys!  This blueberry muffin smoothie is so good!  If you have been following this blog for awhile, you know I prefer to add real food to smoothies instead of protein powder.  I think protein powder is too expensive and I also prefer to eat things the way nature intended.  This is my latest healthy smoothie recipe.   This blueberry muffin smoothie contains 8 1/2 grams of protein.  It is a breakfast that will keep you full for some time.  If you can’t eat oats, quinoa flakes would be a good substitute.   1/4 cup of quinoa flakes contains about 4 grams of protein.  You can whip this healthy smoothie up in just minutes!

Another great thing you could do with this smoothie recipe, is make popsicles or smoothie pops with it.  I like these molds.  My kids love them too! You could probably even sneak some greens in here.  The blueberries would mask the color and the banana would mask the flavor of the greens.   Trust me.  I fool my kids all the time. 🙂

Raspberry Coconut Smoothie

It’s giveaway time again.  I know many of my recipes require a blender, so I wanted to be able to give you an opportunity to win one.  I contacted Blendtec and they gave me a Blendtec blender to review and another to give away.  This blender is awesome.  I especially love how wide the pitcher is.  Makes for very easy cleaning.  I whipped up this smoothie in no time at all.  In fact, there are set modes on the blender so you can just press a button and walk away.  Great for all us moms out there who are trying to keep up with the kids as we cook.

Not only have I made this smoothie with it, but I have also used it to grind oats into flour, and make soup.  It handled every job beautifully.  The twister jar is great because it can tackle the smaller jobs like hummus and almond butter.
