Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats

Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats.  Fall is just around the corner.  That makes me think of warm smells like cinnamon and nutmeg.

I just love it!  This recipe is like having the fall flavors all wrapped up in one yummy breakfast!  If you have already made my Almond Butter Overnight Oats, you know that this recipe is super easy!

Apple Cinnamon Overnight oats

This oatmeal has a little crunch in the morning from the steel cut oats.  If you like more of a smoother oatmeal, then rolled oats may be better for you to use.

I make up a whole bunch of these and then just grab and go during the week.  I added no sugar to mine at all, but if you like your oatmeal a bit sweeter, I will put an option in the ingredients.

  1. That looks amazing. I am making it tonight. I'm going to make more for the rest of the week. Your blog is amazing. I'm in love with your recipes. Thanks for all of them.
  2. Omg I just made this same meal about an hour ago for my breakfast in the morning! It's late here Australia! Great minds hey? I added dates into mine and I use quinoa flakes to boost the protein content.
  3. Have all the ingredients in my pantry.....Going to make this tonight, for tomorrow morning....Will be using rolled oats, as I like my oatmeal smooth and vanilla almond milk
  4. I hate chia seeds (texture thing), would this still work without them? I thought you had to cook steel cut oats (or at least that is what I was always told!), is this information wrong that I was given? Thanks!! Love your recipes!
    1. You can omit the chia seeds, but you may need to add less milk. No cooking necessary! The oats mostly soften. They retain a little crunch that I like, but if you use rolled oats, the oatmeal will be much more smooth.
  5. This recipe is going on my list of things to make! I have made somebody's overnight oats recipe twice recently. I used half rolled oats and half steel cut. The first time it sat in the fridge for 2 days, the second time we ate it the next day. I liked it better when it had marinated for a couple of days - the steel cut oats were a bit crunchy the second time. Using half & half rolled & steel cut worked very well, though. I'm really looking forward to making this when (if) fall happens. :-)
    1. Doing half and half is a great idea I never thought of. Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy my recipe.
  6. Adding chopped dates - just 1 or 2 - is another easy & healthy way to sweeten this. Chopped small, left over night, & stirred well you don't even notice any thing but the sweet. :0) I LOVE all these overnight oats recipes...they are my go to breakfast now & I love being able to enjoy oatmeal during the hot days of summer.
  7. I just made mine for tomorrow morning.. the measurements for the recipe you have above - how many jars do you divide it into? I have 8oz mason jars and I know oatmeal expands... just curious if you can give me some hints ;) Thanks for posting!!!
  8. I made this last night and just ate it this morning. Oh. My. God. Best one so far :) Also loved your almond butter one as well. Thank you so much! You're making my mornings so much easier!
  9. How long do these last in the fridge? If I make a batch for the entire week on Sunday night will they be good throughout the entire week? Thanks for the recipe!!
    1. I make a weeks worth and they hold up well. If you plan on adding fresh fruit, don't do that until you are ready to eat it.
  10. We had these for breakfast this morning and really enjoyed them. I used half steel cut oats and half rolled oats. It was a great way to use up the rest of my jar of baby food applesauce that I had opened to make pancakes. I think that unless you like really crunchy, steel cut oats get better when they sit longer - a minimum of 48 hours.
    1. I like the crunch, but would suggest using all rolled oats for a smoother oatmeal. I am glad you enjoyed the recipe!
  11. So excited to try this tomorrow am. I didn't have the applesauce or maple syrup, but substituted those for Apple Butter. Hoping it is amazing!! :)
    1. I bet apple butter will be amazing in it! Also maple butter... there are just so many yummy combinations! I hope you enjoy it.
