Branch Basics Review

Let’s talk cleaning products shall we?  When I first started reading food labels, I was surprised at some of the ingredients.  So then I started to think about other household products.  At first I was buying the “green” cleaners at the grocery store, but I wondered about their ingredients as well.  Some of them still contain small amounts of toxic ingredients.  When you think about it, every surface in your house gets cleaned.  So those small amounts of toxins can add up to a lot.  As a mom of 2 small girls, that really worried me.  Especially with my baby girl because she has asthma and cleaners seem to trigger it.

Then I found out about an awesome company called Branch Basics.

Branch Basics is a super versatile cleaner that contains NO toxic ingredients.  In fact, not only does it contain zero toxic ingredients, but it can also be used for just about every cleaning job in your house!  It also goes beyond household cleaning.  Some of the other uses are: personal care, baby wash, laundry and even pet shampoo!  I was lucky enough to try out some samples and let me tell you, this stuff really holds up.  I cleaned my kitchen counters and floors as well as my bathrooms and it worked great.  And I can tell you with 2 preschoolers in the house, there is a lot to clean!   It made me feel good that I was keeping toxic cleaners away from my family.  I know there are tons of recipes on Pinterest for homemade cleaners, but many of them contain vinegar.  I loved that the Branch Basics cleaner did not.

Branch Basics is made from food grade ingredients such as, coconut oil and plant enzymes.  So it’s safe enough to clean your produce of pesticides and other residue, yet strong enough to use on your toughest cleaning jobs.  The cleaner itself has no scent, but it’s open to adding your favorite essential oils for an added benefit.  Branch Basics is also a good choice for those that suffer allergies.  It is plant based and contains no wheat, gluten, soy, dairy, nuts, corn, or tree nuts.  It’s also GMO free.   One of the things I like best about Branch Basics, is that it’s an all in one cleaner.  No more trying to store lots of different bottles under your sink.  All you need is one!  I don’t talk about a product unless I absolutely believe in it 100%.  I can say that I will be using Branch Basics from now on.

  1. I just heard about Branch Basics recently so I just ordered it duirng their CyberMonday sale. So glad to hear another great review. Can't wait to try it.
  2. I have been using it for the last 2 years and I love it! It is the only thing that cleans my ceramic top stove. After I first got it I would still brad the old cleaner out of habit and after scrubbing for a minute I would remember and use the branch basics and it would come right off.
  3. Melissa - Thank you so much for this review and informing us about this great company! I went to their website and looked everything over and made several purchases - I am excited to receive my products and share as gifts as well!! :)
  4. I really like the idea of this non-toxic product, but I'm always fearful that products like this won't be strong enough to kill bacteria, particularly in the kitchen. Whenever I cook with chicken or ground beef, I probably over-clean with bleach or Lysol to feel like the countertops and sink are not contaminated. Does Branch Basics have anything in it that will kill bacteria in the kitchen? Particularly when working with chicken and/or ground beef? Thank you.
    1. I got this straight from their website. Does Branch Basics Soap kill bacteria, viruses and mold? Being classified as a “soap”, it therefore doesn’t fall under the jurisdiction of the EPA or the FDA. In order to make claims of killing or sanitizing or deemed an “antibacterial” formula, a product must contain a registered EPA pesticide and/or at least 62% alcohol. Because we are unwilling to jeopardize the integrity of the soap’s purity and safety, neither of these are added and therefore such claims cannot be made. However, Branch Basics Cleaning Soap is a pure soap and at this point we are standing by the CDC’s (Center for Disease Control) statement that the best way to get rid of germs is to clean with a pure soap. They are even recommending this over a product with an EPA-registered pesticide because of the mounting problem of antibiotic resistance. The CDC states that the best way to get rid of germs (bacteria and viruses) is to wash with a soap.

  6. As a severe allergy sufferer, I prefer to clean things the old fashioned way. Ammonia - Cleans, degreases, deotorizes and disinfects most surfaces (not safe on hard wood). Effective for removing stubborn odors without using industrial solvents that destroy your lungs (e.g. Febreeze). Effective for cleaning the inside of ovens. Dilute it for your purpose as full strength is usually to strong. Use in well ventilated areas. Don't mix it with bleach. Baking soda - Deotorize and scouring agent. Effrctive for cleaning grout and tile. Baking soda and vinegar - Breaks down organic matter, cleans, degreases, deotorizes and disinfects. Effective at cleaning pipes. Bleach (Per medical research, avoid using as it causes permanent lung damage, and it is an independent risk factor for asthma.) - Breaks down organic matter, cleans, degreases, deotorizes and disinfects. Semi-effective at cleaning pipes. Don't mix with ammonia. Lemon - Cleans, degreases, deotorizes and disinfects most surfaces (not safe on hard wood). Effective for removing stubborn odors without using industrial solvents that destroy your lungs (e.g. Febreeze). Various essential oils - Certain oils repel certain insects. Certain oils disinfect. Certain oils can be used to clean, preserve and waterproof organic materials like leather and wood. Vinegar - Cleans, degreases, deotorizes and disinfects most surfaces (safe on hard wood). Effective for removing stubborn odors without using industrial solvents that destroy your lungs (e.g. Febreeze). Effective at cleaning and prolonging the shelf life of produce.
