Secret Ingredient Chocolate Silk Pie

Hi guys! This is Emily from PrettyPies.com and I’m thrilled to be guest posting today! I’ve got a little secret… and it’s hidden inside this delectable chocolate pie. That’s why I’m calling it my Secret Ingredient Chocolate Silk Pie.

Unlike conventional chocolate silk pies, this one has NO flour, sugar, dairy, eggs or cornstarch, but it tastes just as delicious! And the best part: it’s SO much healthier since it’s made with simple whole foods, including two super healthy secret ingredients! Plus vegan and Paleo-friendly to boot.

The crust is possibly my favorite part. It tastes JUST like the real deal. Crisp and buttery, but there’s no butter! It’s made with almond flour, so it’s gluten-free, grain-free, AND nutrient dense. And I love how it’s easier to make than a regular pie crust.

Now here’s the SECRET, but you’ve gotta trust me! I know it sounds CRAZY, but it’s full of zucchini! And avocado! Yet you would never know by tasting it! It’s SO good. Ultra smooth, creamy and chocolatey, but made with green vegetables!

Believe me, my family had NO idea they were eating a pie filled with veggies. All I heard was a symphony of ‘Mmmm’s.’ 🙂 I couldn’t WAIT to tell them they just ate foods they claim to hate! Haha! This mama’s happy that her kids are getting some extra vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber without a battle against the green stuff! #momwin

Do you like to sneak in veggies, too? I’m all about it. Zucchini in evvvverything. Because who couldn’t use an extra boost of nutrients! Especially when it taste like chocolate SILK.

      Recipe Notes

To make chocolate shavings, use a vegetable peeler and about 1/3 of your favorite dark chocolate bar and gently "peel" thin layers of chocolate.

Avoid avocados that are overly ripe, since they can have an “avocadoy” flavor. I used medium Haas avocados. You may need 1 Tbs more or less maple syrup and cacao, depending on the size of your avocados.Taste as you go. Use honey instead of maple syrup to make it Paleo.

      1. This pie sounds amazing. Anyway we could do it nut free too? Maybe coconut flour or chickpea flour? I have a guest coming to Thanksgiving that is allergic to eggs and nuts, so this pie sounds great except for the crust (well it sounds great with the crust, but trying to make it nut free). Thanks!
        1. You can always find another recipe for the crust. Just do a search for nut free crust. Coconut flour can be tricky to use as a sub in recipes.
      2. Hi there, I think this pie sounds delish!! I was wondering what is a good substitute for the coconut oil please? I am allergic :( I know, it sucks as it is so tasty and healthy but sadly I am unable to have it. Would butter be better or another oil? Thank you in advance.
      3. Hi. This looks amazing and I want to try it. Thing is, I am alergic to avocado. I know it's a bummer, but I get so sick from it that I hate them. Anyway, could I use all zuchinni?? Thanks, Sita
        1. I'm not sure all zucchini will work in this. :( I know it's not pie, but I this recipe calls for zucchini and no avocado. Maybe you can try it? https://mywholefoodlife.com/2014/03/02/fudgy-flourless-brownies/
