Healthy Oatmeal Cookies!

I made you healthy oatmeal cookies! Just because I try to eat healthy doesn’t mean I stopped loving cookies. One of my favorite recipes before I started eating healthy was my grandmother’s oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. The original recipe called for processed flours and processed sugars.  These healthy oatmeal cookies are much better for you.  So have a couple. 🙂

I loaded mine up with spices so that I would need to add very little sugar.  Did you know that spices like cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla make foods appear sweeter than they are.  It’s like a trick of the senses or something.

  1. Its a snowing day in Maryland today and I was in the mood for baking and looking for an excuse to turn on the oven :) I was so excited I happened to have everything on hand for these. I just pulled them out of the oven and enjoyed one, and they are great!! Made exactly as the recipe is written (used a regular egg and dairy milk). They did not spread much at all.. so I may flatten them out a bit next time before baking. Thank you so much for sharing!! And I love that I won't feel so bad about enjoying a few more of these today :)
  2. I don't have any white whole wheat flour on hand I have normal whole wheat, whole wheat pastry flour and spelt. What do you think?
  3. I just made these and they're delicious!!!! I LOVE your blog and recipes. One quick question: is it possible to substitute date syrup for molasses? I didn't have any molasses and they came out a bit dry. Thanks and keep the amazing recipes coming!
  4. Could I leave out both the maple syrup and molasses? Or could I replace the maple syrup with something else like more applesauce or coconut oil?
  5. Hi, I was looking forward to making these for my dad, but then realized I don't have any coconut oil! Is there anything that could replace the coconut oil?
