These homemade chocolate bars are so good.  I wish I had made more of them.  The chocolate mold I bought was the perfect size for this recipe too.

I will be ordering another one right away.  If you don’t have a chocolate mold, don’t worry.

You can make this by using mini muffin pans as well.  It just may take a little longer to harden back up.  One of the things I like the most about this is that it requires no boiling or stirring over the stove.  Just mix, pour and viola! homemade chocolate.

This recipe is gluten free, vegan and paleo.  You can also make a magic shell out of this recipe.  Just mix and pour over ice cream.  Yummy!

Recipe Notes

This chocolate has a mild coconut taste, but it is not overwhelming. These bars are best when they are stored in the freezer.

  1. Just made these today. Turned out wonderful. Added a little Maldon's sea salt flakes on top. Satisfied my chocolate craving!! Thank you so much for the recipe.
    1. Are you asking about cacao powder? You can find it at most health food stores in the baking section. IF you are asking about cocoa butter, that can also be found in most health food stores. Usually in the section with all the raw food.

  2. You are officially the new favorite person in our house, and I'm in second for finding your recipe. We've made this every day for the last few days and I just want to THANK YOU for this healthy, delicious treat! We put chopped nuts in the bottom of mini muffin liners, and then pour the chocolate on top. A double recipe can make up to 12, heh heh. I also use a chocolate melting pot that you plug in and turn on - it's so easy - come back in 10 min and stir! I also use two different cocoa powders (incl some black cocoa pwd) and a sprinkle of salt. I wonder how often making them would qualify for an addiction... ;)
  3. Tried this recipe out today and it is AWESOME! I was testing it out for Easter and poured the chocolate into Easter egg molds that I got from the local craft store. I will be making many more of these in the coming weeks! Keeping them in the freezer is key because I did find they melt in your hand when just refrigerated.
    1. Glad you like the recipe! Yes I agree they are best kept in the freezer. They melt fast in your hands, but they are yummy!
  4. I love this recipe. I also love "haystack" cookies which are full of sugar. I found I could make healthy haystacks using this recipe and then adding in oats and coconut until all the chocolate is absorbed. Spoon them out into heaps and freeze. So yummy!
    1. Yes they are soft enough to eat right out of the freezer. I can imagine they would last several months that way.
  5. These look so good! I can't wait to make them! Quick question, do I have to spray the pan with anything so that they won't stick or just pour the batter straight into the pan?
    1. If you have a chocolate mold, you won't need to spray it. If you are using an 8x8 pan, I would spray it or line it with parchment paper.
  6. Thank you! Trying this soon. :) I see from the comments that people are finding it doesn't stay firm. What about adding a bit of unrefined beeswax to the mix? (My mom always added baking paraffin to dipping chocolate to keep it a hardened shell.) If you get raw honey from a beekeeper, I bet they'll have some great wax on hand. Can't wait for farmers market season!
    1. They are definitely softer than regular chocolate and need to be kept in the freezer. I would love to know if the beeswax helps!
  7. I made one batch, and it looked nothing like yours...mine was thicker, and didn't fill the molds. What did I do wrong?
  8. Made some last night for my lovely wife who has a sweet tooth. She said they tasted good, they weren't very hard though - been in the freezer over night but more like fudge. Too much coconut oil?
  9. I saw this recipe when you first posted it and was very intrigued. I finally got around to trying it tonight and cannot believe how great this chocolate tastes. I won't be buying chocolate at the store anymore. Thank you for this wonderful recipe!
  10. So my daughters and I make this all of the time, it's amazing. Today she said can we make vanilla? So I left the cocoa out and added about 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract, voila!
    1. Yay! Good idea! You can also use raw cocao butter. It's white and a main ingredient in white chocolate. I may try that next! :)
  11. Just made these! Trolled through my local woolworths last night looking for a vegan chocolate bar, there was only one kind I had already tried and wasn't too keen on. Then I stumbled across these on pinterest, noticed I had all the ingredients in the pantry so I made them. Heavenly!
  12. Mmmmmmm.... dipped fresh strawberries in this. Wonderful. I'm looking for ways to kick this mean sweet tooth again. This may recipe may be the trick! Thank you!
